The show is a competition run by the US-based paper manufacturer, which is supplied locally by BJ Ball.

This year included a local winner, Paul Garbutt's agency, Naughty Fish Design, which won $5,000 for project Ordinary Day produced by Digitalpress on Mohawk Superfine.

BJ Ball promotions manager Scott Chong told ProPrint that this year's show was on par or better than the previous show in 2011. This year was the first time the event had moved to a two-year cycle since being established more than a decade ago.

"We focused on having a lot of students during the day and more designers and established agencies during the night," said Chong.

ProPrint attended the Sydney show on 15 May at the Arthouse Hotel, where creative types mingled with leading printers, including Dominion Print Group, Carbon8, Lindsay Yates Group and Acorn Press.

The other stops on the roadshow included the Melbourne on 30 May, Adelaide on 4 June and Brisbane on 12 June.

Chong said the 2013 show had been a success. "Ideally we want to turn this into more Mohawk sales but really, we take this as an opportunity to support the creative community and bring some inspiration and great ideas from around the world."

The Sydney show included partner stands by Carbon8 and Avon Graphics as well as a greater focus on other BJ Ball products.

"We took this opportunity to showcase a bit more of a BJ Ball offering; we had a few things on displays, such as our Mohawk Panoramic digital product as well as our MacTac self-adhesives for vehicle wraps and wall graphics," added Chong.
