Quark unveils QPS 9

Quark has added support for automated digital publishing from XML to the ePUB format to the latest release of QPS, which already supported the creation of custom-branded apps for the iPad.

The US-based software developer said that the ability to create content using XML meant that it could be easily reused and dynamically repurposed for automated publishing across multiple documents, channels and formats.

Other additions include a Collections feature, which allows users to organise assets in a multi-level directory structure where they can share one or more workflows, automatic routing rules, job jackets, users and groups, and revision settings.

Quark has also enhanced support for dynamic layout of tables to eliminate the need for manual intervention when publishing annual reports, financial statements, and other documents that use tabular information.

The release includes additional support for remote users, via the Web Hub module, which has been overhauled to provide a more intuitive and productive experience, including the ability to browse the directory structure.

Meanwhile, Quark has also released the first point update to QuarkXPress 9 (version 9.0.1), which resolves maintenance issues.
