Rapid Digital on digital rampage

Rapid Digital was the first Australian recipient of the long awaited press, announcing the sale back in July 2004 when the press was officially launched in Australia. Last Wednesday night, the company officially unveiled the first press to the public in what was one of the biggest celebrations of print in Australia this year.

During the glittering proceedings, which included a red carpet arrival, and energetic music acts at the new purpose-built facilities, the drop cloth was rolled back to reveal a second press sitting alongside the first, much to the surprise of the gathered masses of approximately 600 Fuji Xerox employees, Rapid customers and other high-profile industry members.

This second installation places Rapid Digital among the top echelon of digital printers worldwide, certainly close to, if not the largest, in Australia. Estimates are that current production levels for the business, with its iGen3s, multiple Nuvera 120s and DocuTechs, are in excess of 12 million copies per month.

If this were not enough, Ronald Anderson, Rapid Digital managing director, also put pen to paper and signed a contract for the delivery of two Fuji Xerox Nuvera Pro black and white digital production printers. The Nuvera Pro will be officially launched onto the Australian market early in 2005. He has also mooted in recent weeks that there is potentially enough florrspace for another four iGen3s – one an almost definite.

This latest iGen3 installation is one of six confirmed incoming orders for the press, which has already been strongly received in the Australian market with multiple installations across the country.
