Ricoh launches light production printers

Reaching output speeds in both colour and mono up to 80ppm (Ricoh Pro C5110S) and 65ppm (Ricoh Pro C5100S) they are designed for the production of on-demand prestigious marketing material, collateral or client mailings.

Kathy Wilson, general manager Ricoh says, “The printers complete our range, we haven’t been able to offer light printers before. The high productivity and small footprint are ideal for the markets they are aimed at.”

The printers have a newly developed toner formulation which has increased its colour gamut by 10 per cent. The toner has also been developed to fuse at a lower temperature, which in turn also ensures a quicker warm-up time for increased productivity.

The Pro C5110S and Pro C5100S are also the first Ricoh digital production printers to feature enhanced toner transfer technology, which the company says delivers high quality print results on heavily textured stock – suited for direct mail and marketing applications. Ricoh says media flexibility is a hallmark of the two new models, with a new fuser assembly which uses information from the media library to optimise the fuser temperature and pressure combination for each substrate.

Wilson also highlighted its Clickable Paper, first seen at drupa. Now in beta testing in the US the Clickable Paper enables smartphone users to scan the printed image and be taken to a website / landing page.

Ricoh’s workflow solutions are now all under the TotalFlow banner, and PacPrint saw the launch of TotalFlow Prepare for cutsheet printers to take control of jobs for pagination, imposition, tab insertion, late stage editing and assembly.

As a pointer to a possible business opportunity Ricoh had a 3D printer on the stand, manufactured by a third party but using Ricoh  print heads.
