Ricoh launches Pro C751 at customer event

The evening event was hosted by writer and broadcaster Mark Pesce, who brought his technology expertise to bear when speaking about the future of digital print and on-demand books.

“When there is the ability to go from file to print in one click, the demand for short-run books will explode. The future is for short-run books and tablets, going hand in hand,” said Pesce.

Ricoh Europe director Graham Moore made the journey down under. He spoke about some applications for digital print being produced by printers in Europe.

Moore showed off applications including printing on durable media, for jobs such as luggage tags, running lightweight magnetic substrates, and digitally printed packaging and labels.

The job that got the most attention was a personalised prospectus from the University of Surrey, produced in-house.

Guests from commercial print shops and CRDs were also given a demo of the Pro C751 light production machine.

The machine includes technology from Ricoh’s production device, the Pro C901, with highlights including its oil-free polymerised toner as well as Trained Customer Replacement Units, which allow printers to do some minor maintenance without needing to call in a technician.
