Ricoh picks up top environmental accolade

From the 16.1 per cent of companies who received Oekom’s ‘Prime’ status, the number one position was awarded to Ricoh and Intel.

Out of the many areas of investigation analysed, Oekom focused on the following key issues in relation to the IT industry’s sustainability performance.

  • Working condition in the supply chain
  • Reduction/substitution of hazardous components
  • Return, recycling, reuse
  • Customer information on potential energy savings and hazardous substances

Ricoh was recognised as a leader in terms of the sustainable design of products and the reduction of energy consumption of its printers and photocopiers over recent years.

Moreover, Oekom also acknowledged the convenient options Ricoh provides for customers to return used appliances and the large quantities of recycled materials or previously used components in certain products.

Ricoh was also recognised for gaining ISO 14001 at all of its major production sites.
