Ricoh reveals Clickable Paper app

The Clickable Paper app allows consumers to point their iPhone, iPad or Android smart device at a printed surface and receive online content. The technology can also be ‘retrofitted’ to existing print.

Unlike quick response codes, Clickable Paper does not require a visible code to be added to the print design. It is the design of the page itself that triggers the service, using Ricoh’s patented Ricoh Visual Search technology.

The technology works by simply capturing an image in the book on a smart device. The service recognises the captured image and takes the user to the relevant web page.

It is being demonstrated with the new book Precision Marketing by Ricoh’s vice-president of marketing Sandra Zoratti. ‘We are connecting the static to the dynamic,’ said Zoratti.
