Ricoh solves Council’s growth woes

The Council says it chose Ricoh after a vendor process to replace their incumbent in-house production system to cope with increasing workloads due to ongoing population growth.

With Council full time staff numbers at 400 and set to rise to meet the forecast increase in demand for local services, the Council’s in-house print facility was coming under increasing pressure to deliver a myriad of print jobs, according to Ricoh.

Mark Dawson, manager of Governance and Administration at the Coucnil explains that the facility’s printer was monochrome, had a low 600 dpi resolution with no A3 print capabilities and finishing options were limited to outdated black coil binding.

He says personnel were regularly working extended hours to meet deadlines, due to a lack of workflow and off-line finishing options.

Dawson adds, “If we were ever to streamline our production printing and save money, then we knew full well that we had to find a new print solution that could deliver on speed, quality, flexibility and workflow.”

In commenting on the decision, Dawson continues,  “One of the key reasons Ricoh made the cut was that the team displayed a thorough understanding of local council needs as well as our own specific production requirements. “

Once installed and operational, the high speed output of the Ricoh Pro C 900S, together with the integrated workflow software, has eliminated overtime required to produce complex documents.
