Rooster set to profit with finishing kit

Rooster IMC says it will improve efficiency and automation with the install of three new pieces of finishing kit, which it says will also cut costs. The Melbourne printer, which is part of Naresh Gulati’s OCA Group, has installed a Duplo 646 cutter, a Multigraph folder and creaser, as well as Duplo VD 300 diecutter.

Duplo DC-445-RZD

Gulati says already the machines, with only a few jobs run, have saved on time and improved efficiency; for example cutting the man-hours for an eight-page gatefold from seven to one, and eliminating two processes with the Duplo 646. “These machines will bring significant efficiencies to the business, so there will be less handling and moving stock around,” he says. He says another high cost area is finishing, which businesses need to reduce to cut cost through automation. The new kit he says also allows Rooster IMC to enter new markets like personalised packaging and time perforation. He says the company is working with reseller Neopost, which supplied the three machines, on automating other processes in the business, such as JDF workflow.
