Picked from a pool of nine state winners from 2012 and 2013, Moss plans to use the scholarship to travel to Ipex in London next year and to the US to meet with printing companies such as Adobe. Karen Goldsmith, executive director of GAMAA, attended the presentation during the NSW PICA awards in Sydney. She says the calibre of candidates for the scholarship this year was “excellent – so it made our task even more difficult to select a winner.” She adds, “Samuel had a great written proposal with very clear objectives on how he intended to use the scholarship fund. The depth of the research Samuel did for his proposal, combined with an obvious drive to further his skills and knowledge were impressive. We were looking for commitment to the industry and passion for the craft and he certainly demonstrated both of these attributes.” Brett Foran from Land & Property Information collected the LIA Printing Industries Future Leaders Award.

Bernie Hockings, federal president of the LIA, says, “Our graduates are from all parts of Australia, country towns to capital cities. It is fantastic to have such great diversity and gender equality, in all a great cross section of our industry. “These graduates represent the best our industry has to offer and they show what a bright future the industry has to look forward to.” The LIA would like to congratulate each of the graduates who were already winners of their respective State awards: • Queensland: Joshua Ankers, Inprint and Sarah Glanville, Creed & Lang Printing • NSW: Brett Foran, Land & Property Information and Samuel Moss, SBM • Victoria: Teagan Woodcock, James Yeats Printing & Design • South Australia: Robyn Edwards, Bowden Print Group and Darius Kooth, Print Graphic Displays • Western Australia: Timothy Smith, Daytone Printing and Shannon Potter, Express Print All nine graduates were accommodated by Heidelberg during their three-day stay in Sydney for the announcement of the winners at the NSW PICA awards. As part of their trip the graduates visited IPMG’s greenfield site at Warwick Farm.
