Screen Australia teams up with Jet Tech for flexo push

Jet unveiled the FX870 II system at its Sydney showroom last week, with the machine on display the first one of its kind to be installed in Australia, with only 60 in operation worldwide.

The two companies have signed an agreement for Jet to distribute and support the machine in the local market. It is the first collaboration for Screen Australia and Jet.

Dainippon Screen Australia technical sales manager Peter Scott told ProPrint that the company’s first foray into the flexo packaging industry was something of a learning curve.

“It’s a challenge and at the same time it’s very exciting, because we can see that it’s an area of the industry that appears to be growing, and it seems able to continue growing regardless of any economic downturn,” he said.

Scott said the partnership with Jet came about through Screen’s desire to build a presence in the market, with Jet Tech’s existing contact base proving invaluable in this regard.

Scott added that the series has already garnered “a fair bit of interest” in the local industry, with the machine garnering interest from label printers and packaging companies with an offset capability, as well as flexo packaging companies.

The Platerite series includes the FX 870, 870 II, and FX 1524 systems.
