The Truepress Jet520EX (pictured) is a monochrome print engine aimed at books-on-demand that hits speeds of 128 metres per minute.
Screen’s Japanese parent company announced the press this morning, saying: “This variable printing system is expected to significantly decrease adoption costs for the monochrome on-demand printing market.”
The vendor said it would tapped into ongoing growth in short-run monochrome materials, such as forms and user manuals, as well as on-demand publishing.
The machine joins other members of the Truepress family, including the full-colour Jet520 released in 2006, and the B2 full-colour JetSX, due to launch at Ipex 2010.
Meanwhile, Screen also announced that combined sales of the Screen Truepress Jet520 and the the InfoPrint 5000, which uses Screen’s drop-on-demand inkjet technology, have now passed 200 worldwide.
