Security printer acquires Australian card manufacturer

ABnote Group operates the Leigh Mardon business in Australia and ABnote in New Zealand. The Group claims to be a market leader in cheques, cards and smart cards in Australia and New Zealand and a major provider of secure transaction services including print production, personalisation and secure warehousing.

The company says with card personalisation and fulfilment capability in Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane, ScreenCheck Australia complements Leigh Mardon’s card manufacturing capability in Melbourne, Sydney, Christchurch and Auckland.

Richard Taylor, managing director of ABnote Australasia says, “Our two businesses are a perfect combination, with Leigh Mardon a major force in the high volume card business, and ScreenCheck focused on the small-to-medium sized card market, using the latest digital press technology.”

Taylor continues, “This will strengthen our capacity to focus on the gift, loyalty and general commercial markets in Australia and New Zealand and means we can offer our customers the very best solution to match their particular requirement and at any particular point in time.”

ScreenCheck’s current offering includes gift cards, membership and loyalty cards, ticketing cards, photo ID cards, card printers and software.

The company’s three founding directors, Scott Elvish, Greg Mudie and Bevis Smyth will continue as senior managers of the business, which will operate as a separate and focused entity within the ABnote Card and ID services business.

Scott Elvish will take the role of General Manager of ScreenCheck, which will continue to be based in all of its current locations.
