Seidl set to leave print

Seidl has been general manager of Screen for the past 20 years, and has been an enthusiastic supporter of Australian print throughout that time, particularly through his membership of GAMAA and the LIA.

He says, “It was no great surprise when the call came. Screen is restructuring and the world, and that was always going to impact Australia. I’m not sure what the future holds, but I will be taking a break before thinking about that.”

Screen management in Japan are focusing on development and manufacturing, taking a stronger oem route to sales and distribution. At present Fujifilm sells Screen CTP solutions, Xingraphics, which are sold in this country through Ferag is rebadged Screen. Some Agfa CTP solutions are also rebadged Screen technology. Screen is also about to announce a major new oem deal for Australia, but Seidl could not release details.

The company’s digital printing solutions, Truepress and Trueflow will be sold both direct and through oem channels. Screen Australia will effectively now be a order taking, processing and distribution centre, dealing with oems.

Seidl says, “It is important to  note that Screen will still be providing service support, which is second-to-none.”

Prior to joining Screen in the mid 1980s Seidl worked for Seligson & Clare, and before that Kodak.
