Sign-A-Rama Miranda upgrades to VS-640

Franchise owners Ron and Lyn Eastman placed an order for the machine during its world debut at the SAR expo on the Gold Coast in February.

Lyn Eastman told ProPrint they were looking to update from their existing six-year-old Roland press, which was based on the “largely obsolete” ColourRIP system. The couple saw the VS-640 as an easy way of moving onto the Versaworks platform, and quickly “fell in love” with the machine.

“The machine is fantastic, we are especially pleased with the backlits,” Eastman said. “We have also done some prints for retractables using a polyester film and the quality of the print is just so good.”

“We’re really excited with what we can do with metallics, it’s a new edge. We can use it for window graphics and display material, there’s a whole range of applications we can use metallics for. For display purposes, it’s just excellent.”

Eastman added that the new press has provided the company with “a bit more speed, which we were looking for as well”

The franchise, based in the Sydney suburb of Miranda, has a client base that includes Fisher & Paykel, Hire-A-Hubby, Howards Storage World, and Soul Communications.

The VS-640 was launched worldwide in February this year.
