Snap wins WA best employer awards

The awards are based on results of an employee satisfaction survey of Snap Franchising’s Perth-based staff. The Advocacy Award is based on how willing workers are to talk-up their employer.

Snap CEO Grant Vernon said he wanted Snap to be a fun place for employees, commenting,“If people aren’t enjoying being here then they are not motivated to put in the effort that will give the best result. We want Snap to be a great place to work.”

Initiatives run at Snap Franchising include a fun-in-the-workplace programme, launching a vision statement and core values and communication sessions. Under the programme, Snap participated in Australia’s Biggest Morning tea but incorporated a cooking competition to better engage workers. Other initiatives include social lunches and staff awards, including not only employee of the month but non-work related recognition for deeds done well.

Grant says Snap being a great place to work was not confined to the Snap Franchising office – but instead a culture that extended throughout the company’s 150 franchises. He says, “Our training academy, the Snap Academy, runs specific fun-in-the-workplace programmes for our centres.”

One such programme, Fish, was based on a successful program run at the Seattle Fish Markets. Vernon says, “We’ve really tried hard to give franchise owners the tools to make it fun and push that culture right across the group.

“To win the advocacy award and be named runner up for the Best Employer (Small Category) is a great honour and I would like to thank all staff who took part in the survey.”
