Speakers announced for annual NIPPA conference

Karen Birch, President of NIPPA says the print industry has evolved dramatically over the years. Businesses have needed to adapt to changing technology, business practices and customer expectations in order to prosper in the industry.

She says, “Our world has changed significantly in recent years and the Hobart conference will reflect on the change, whilst at the same time focus on the years ahead, and provide innovative and professional solutions for all types and sizes of In-house printing businesses.”

Guest speaker at the event, Philip Lawrence, an environmental consultant will provide an overview of environmental issues effecting the print industry and practical ideas that businesses can implement in their workplaces. Philip has worked in the print industry for 33 years, in areas including ink manufacture, press-engineering and prepress technologies.

Lawrence currently works with organisations who wish to develop their environmental strategies in line with recognised international standards, according to NIPPA.

Other speakers will include Steve Redding, General Services Manager of reprographics, mail services and porters at UPMG and Eric Philips, a professional adventurer specialising in expeditions to the polar regions.

Meanwhile Karen Birch says, “For years we have needed to prove the worth of our services. Many of us have needed to prove our existence due to the current inflation situation which has added to budget cuts and uncertainties.”

Birch continues that the conference is heavily subsidised to NIPPA members, and once again there are airfare subsidies on offer to allow for New Zealand based members to join their Australian colleagues at the event.
