Startup trade printer buys Pressnet production package

Accountant
Williams brings substantial business experience to the operation, and Gallagher
has worked in trade printing operations management for a many years.

Queensland Trade
Printing is relying on experience, low labour costs and state-of-the art new
machinery to deliver a very competitive service in price and quality to
Australian printers. "Small, lean and fast" says Gallagher.

Because startups
with all new equipment need to hit the ground running, Williams and Gallagher
looked for high technology, reliability, and value for money in their equipment
investment. Their analysis led to choosing the Sakurai 466SD press, Magna
ZYS490-4-2 folding machine and the Guangming SAFM800 celloglazing machine from
Pressnet. As an accountant, Williams was also attracted to the flexible
financing package offered by Pressnet.

The Sakurai's
heavy construction and full flood lubrication were prerequisites for the long
hard working life Queensland Trade Print expected of this press. The high
degree of automation and printing speed were necessary for the productivity a
trade printer needs. Sakurai's double diameter impression cylinders and
diamond-coated grippers ensured a secure paper transport path. Sakurai's PLC
controlled electronics were seen as reliable and simple to service. Gallagher
was assured by Pressnet principle Charlie Scandrett that he will never have to
buy expensive printed circuit boards during the Sakurai press's life – simply
because it has none. The strong and precise lever and fulcrum ink key mechanism
also impressed Gallagher.

The all-buckle
Magna folding machine with four buckles at the first station and two buckles at
the second station, was considered the ideal choice for general commercial
work. The Mitsubishi PLC-controlled machine has Japanese urethane inserts and a
simple touch screen operator interface. Gallagher did not initially have much
experience running folders, but some intensive training and a 24-hour help line
manned by Scandrett soon solved that problem.

The Guangming SAFM
800 celloglazing machine is simply the original Chinese OEM machine for a
famous international brand. At 76cm wide and running speed of 40 metres per
minute, the SAFM 800 automatically separates and stacks B2 size celloglazed
product at 4,800 sheets per hour. Gallagher considered these specifications
will fit his inhouse work and allow machine time for some trade celloglazing as
well. Queensland Trade Print has ordered the stacker option for the SAFM 800 to
reduce the labour cost of running the machine.

Gallagher says, "Pressnet
genuinely cares about its customer's success, Scandrett has referred clients to
us and maintained a keen interest in our progress. Pressnet is even providing
the Sushi for our open day, I am looking forward to it!"
