HEWLETT-PACKARD PAGEWIDE XL 8000

The HP PageWide XL printer portfolio includes the 4000, 5000 and 8000 printers, and delivers up to 30 A1 sheets per minute. The award-winning flagship HP PageWide XL 8000 offers up to 50 per cent savings in total production costs, says HP.

The HP PageWide XL 8000 printer won the 2016 iF Gold “Best of Best” Design Award among a record 5,300 submissions. The ink cartridges are not hidden away, but designed as a key visual element, offering quick access to this often-replaced component.

It can print at up to 30 D/A1 pages/ minute and up to 1,500 D/A1 pages/ hour, and is focused on the technical large-format market for printing computer-aided design drawings, geographic information system maps, complemented by point-of-sale applications and on-demand posters for the architectural, engineering and construction industries, print service providers, repro houses and central reprographic departments.

The HP PageWide XL series includes a stationary 40-inch (101.6-cm) printbar that spans the whole printing width. As paper moves under the printbar, the entire page is printed in one pass, enabling very high printing speeds.

HP PageWide XL pigment ink is specially designed to provide reliable operation with HP PageWide XL printers and produce dark blacks and vivid colours on a range of media including uncoated bond papers, moisture- and fade-resistant prints on weights from 70gsm to 200gsm.

HP PageWide XL printers do not apply heat to the paper as part of the printing process, enabling very high levels of length accuracy (±0.1%). Designed for high-volume operation, the PageWide XL Series is based on HP PageWide technology currently powering HP inkjet web presses.

These printers save substantial amounts of energy in printing, warm-up, and while ready-to-print compared to LED EP printers with similar print speeds. HP PageWide technology uses HP thermal inkjet and HP pigment Inks, so a fuser or dryer is not needed to produce dry, ready-to-use prints immediately, reducing power and energy use.

These printers are self-monitoring with predefined resolution paths as technical issues occur, and intuitive maintenance wizards. Installation, training and support is provided from certified staff at HP and its channel partners.

The PageWide XL series ranges in price from $48,000 to $150,000. HP Financial Services can assist in financing these printers to approved customers.

KIP 800 SERIES

Konica Minolta has partnered with manufacturer KIP to offer its portfolio of colour and monochrome wide-format printing systems.

KIP printers offer a range of colour and mono print systems for engineering and construction documents to maps, posters, signs and photo enlargements.

The KIP 800 colour series is designed for technical, graphic and office document users who require high demand output, precise imaging and colour fidelity.

A high-resolution multi-touch screen provides copy, scan and print previews to view black-and-white and colour images. Multi-touch controls allow users to zoom, rotate and pan the image preview.

KIP wide-format printers provide the ability to print from or scan to the cloud directly from the control display, using a choice of cloud services including OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, Box.com, Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Office 365.

The KIP 800 series uses a heat pressure fixing system that enables the correct temperature and pressure to produce a durable long life print for all applications.

KIP’s intelligent image smoothing technology eliminates jagged edges on text, curves and diagonal lines. It works by placing additional sub-pixels where needed throughout the image, to enhance the image quality for output.

A dry toner based system also produces a stable UV print and is also the most cost effective solution for wide-format printing. The KIP range includes LED technology which has been developed and redefined over many years.

The KIP 880 offers multi-function copy, scan and print options for high-demand enterprise workflows. The integrated dual footprint configuration multitasks scan and print production, saving time. Smart touchscreen automation simplifies complex copy, scan and print processes for single touch control.

OCÉ COLORWAVE 700

The Océ ColorWave 700 is a single footprint machine — all print, scan and copy tasks can be carried out with the Océ ClearConnect user interface.

With a cloud connection users always have access to documents. The automatic original width detection, media loading, roll selection and image positioning automate the print, copy and scan process.

It is ideal for commercial printers who want to offer new wide-format services like posters, roll-up banners, modern canvas, wallpaper and more with the new Océ MediaSense technology. It provides a cost-efficient way for commercial printers and retailers to produce short-run point of sale colour specialties more economically with no preparation time or complex finishing.

This system can print up to 225 A1 prints per hour. The Océ ColorWave 700 can load 200 metres of media per roll, with a total of six rolls for up to 1,200 metres of media capacity for unattended printing.

RICOH PRO 4160

The Ricoh Pro L4160 is a roll-fed Piezo inkjet printer that uses eight ink cartridges configured to the printer’s own preferences, as well as a three-way intelligent heater that maintains proper temperatures pre-printing, during printing and during drying to expedite printing and deliver the best results.

The Ricoh Pro L4160 will produce indoor and outdoor signs and banners, banners, point-of-sale displays, billboards, soft signage and display panels, exhibition and event graphics, vehicle wraps and wall coverings.

Its print heads are arranged in a single line to ensure the exact drop is dispensed on every detail of every job. Multi-jetting enables three drops of various sizes to be dropped simultaneously to accommodate all kinds of media and density requirements.

The L4160 can output jobs up to 1,610mm (63 inches) wide and as long as the roll being printed. It uses up to six-colour process printing, adding orange and green to the standard CMYK setup for more colour options and increased colour gamut. It will also print with white ink – useful for printing on clear substrates – and use it as a base colour for the best image quality on both sides.

The L4160 is kind to the environment with aqueous latex inks that print on a wide range of media. These inks can weather any storm – literally – on almost any substrate including plastic, vinyl, textile, clear film and backlit materials. A water-based ink containing resin, latex generates little VOC, making special ventilation equipment unnecessary.

The RICOH Pro L4160 uses an intuitive, icon-based interface for checking settings, setting “favourites” and reusing past settings. Quality and speed can be checked with layout imposition tools and test prints that save time, error and waste.
