Total Image Supplies wins Canon award

Melbourne-based Total Image Supplies has won the Canon Australia Large Format Partner of the Year award, in recognition of success in the photographic/fine art printing hardware space.

The company was founded by sole director Tyson Buechler 11 years ago, first focused on thermal laminating.

Total Image Supplies has been selling Canon’s CAD and ImagePrograf line for five years now, supplying various markets including print franchise groups.

Buechler says, “We look after all of the ImagePrograf large format printers, the TM, TX, and the Pro Series, the photographic, graphic display, and fine art series.

“We supply a lot of franchise groups with the CAD and ImagePrograf machines. That covers POS, pull-up-banners, and then the fine-art photographic space, which might include canvas prints.

“We have had significant year-on-year growth in that space. We have been pushing ImagePrograf for four or five years, and our knowledge of the project and portfolio has grown.

“We have been moving towards the fine art and photographic machines, they are more expensive, and customers use more ink and media.

“The ImagePrograf machines are super reliable, every Officeworks in Australia has one. They are easy to operate, the quality of the output in the aqueous ink space is exceptional. They also have a two-year warranty backed by Canon Australia, which allows us to look after the customer more on the media and consumables side.”

Toby Davis, product manager, Production & Large Format, Canon, says, “I have met and collaborated with Tyson several times to discuss business. He is a great operator, and has grown his business substantially over the past two-to-three years. He is now one of our largest resellers in our distribution network. He is active in the photographic and graphics 8-12 colour LFP space, but also supports other models across the range.

“The Awards cover all our partners, distributors, and resellers selling large format print.

“People are awarded when they grow their business substantially, building year-on-year, or companies that change their business with strategic wins.

“From our perspective, we are big in the photographic, graphic space, but are looking to build our market share in the CAD/technical five-colour space. We want to grow our share.”

Buechler explains, “Our original background is in thermal laminating, so we have a good foundation in the offset/digital space. From there we migrated into large format media, supplying paper.

“We are the major Sihl distributor in Australia for their aqueous ink media, then customers started wanting inks, and then asked us for other things.

“We are a JIT business as with digital print, large format print, there is a lot of on-demand work where customers demand a fast turnaround.”
