TRMC and PVCA merger explainer – what happens next?

The Real Media Collective (TRMC) CEO and incoming CEO for the Print & Visual Communications Association (PVCA) Kellie Northwood answered Sprinter’s questions around the intention for merger of the two associations and provided further details.

We’ve rounded up the key questions below:

What is the name of the new organisation and how will this be decided?

Northwood said the brand, positioning and naming project will be launched at PacPrint and will be determined by both associations’ members. She added that members will be engaged to embark on a naming and branding journey with input across the key projects and positioning strategy of the combined association.

What happens now/next?

Northwood said a PVCA and TRMC member briefing/webinar will be held on Friday, 6 May, followed by ongoing communications and a combined member briefing at PacPrint, to discuss the timeline for future events and activities.

When is the Special General Meeting (SGM) and what will be decided at this meeting?

Northwood said TRMC will host a SGM and webinar briefing for TRMC members in early May. This meeting will facilitate a briefing and feedback session for members before TRMC issues a Special Resolution, calling on the formalised process of member support.

Do members still contact their respective organisations while the merger takes place?

Northwood said there are many elements to the process of uniting two very large organisations.

“To that end, this is not a ‘single day’ merger announcement. Throughout the transitional period, PVCA members will remain under the current management of PVCA as will TRMC members with myself and the existing TRMC team,” she added.

Where will the organisation operate out of?

Northwood mentioned that currently, there are team members from both PVCA and TRMC in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra.

“As the teams are settled and contractor arrangements confirmed to fit the operational requirements of the Association, this will be communicated to members,” Northwood said.

Will all TRMC staff come across to join the new organisation?

Northwood said TRMC and PVCA have existing employment and contractor arrangements in place, and throughout the transitioning period, the requirements of the united association will be assessed.

It is understood the current TRMC team will provide the permanent resources to ensure continuity of service for all members.
