TRMC and PVCA to form one united industry association

The Real Media Collective (TRMC) CEO Kellie Northwood has issued a statement announcing the intention for merger of TRMC and the Print & Visual Communications Association of Australia (PVCA).

The announcement reads:

“Today I write with an important announcement across our industry and the strengthened future of our Association.

After some eighteen (18) months of considered negotiations and discussion I can share, with much enthusiasm, that the two entities, The Real Media Collective (TRMC) and the Print & Visual Communications Association of Australia (PVCA) have agreed to come together to form one united industry association.

This will see the two largest industry Associations for the paper, print, mail, packaging and publishing sectors to form one ‘super industry body’ with a bold and future-focussed vision of strength, leadership and unity for our members. The merger will leverage from the foundation of the existing PVCA Registered Organisation authority and the programs, growth and membership of TRMC.

TRMC will merge into the Registered Organisation in the coming months and to ensure continuity of the products and services of TRMC, myself and the team will remain, with my future involvement being the incoming Chief Executive Officer of the united Association.

As the process and logistics across a project of this size will require a transitional period, Charles Watson, TRMC GM – IR, Policy & Governance, will lead the legal compliance and due diligence process. It is expected TRMC Members will be invoiced in July by TRMC under the current arrangements with a Transfer of Assets taking place in the first quarter once elements of the transition are implemented. More information in this regard will be provided as we proceed.

Once we have completed the Constitutional process, we will look to commencing a re-naming and positioning project with our combined members. As well as develop the key priorities for industry in the twelve (12) months ahead. It is expected this will be announced to all members at PacPrint, Thursday 30th June, 11am and we very much look forward to seeing you all there.

Our combined membership will benefit from the offering of both organisations and the opportunity to build more services for members into the future. With that in mind, we will continue to communicate updates to you and provide more details as we navigate the transition process. Included today is additional information for your consideration and we further provide the Media Release being issued today.

This notice is to be taken as an Issue of Notice for the calling of a Special General Meeting to be held on Friday 6th May, 10am AEST. Please register your attendance.

The Special General Meeting will provide a more detailed briefing to this announcement and offer a forum of questions and feedback to be taken from Members to myself and TRMC Board Chairman, Matt Aitken and Treasurer, Rodney Frost.

This announcement provides much opportunity for you, our Members and the industry, together we are stronger across advocacy into government, development of a consistent national approach to training and talent acquisition, building of a co-operative auditing solution, a united industry promotion, gender and youth inclusivity programs and more. With the authority of the Registered Organisation, TRMC’s legal authority is significantly increased across Fair Work and Government engagement. Additional information and the media release issued today is also provided for further information for you.

I would like to thank the PVCA and TRMC Board Officers for their many hours in putting this agreement together in the best interests of our respective members. I also want to thank PVCA President, Peter Clark and TRMC Chairman, Matt Aitken who have both led the final negotiations bringing this opportunity to a successful proposition for our Members.

I make myself available to you all for any queries or feedback to the announcement today, kellie@thermc.com.au, please do not hesitate in reaching out. We further look forward to your attendance at the upcoming Special General Meeting to explore the next steps in more detail.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our members and the Association, a strengthened, united and forward focused industry body working for all will see our industry in a better position. I am humbled to be provided the opportunity to lead the united Association and commit to leading a team of continued dedication and passion for you all.”
