Upgrade to CTP with Grafika and Kimoto

If you have any old analogue platemakers, imagesetters or vacuum/ exposure frames gathering dust, they could be worth more than you think. Grafika Links will pay $3450 for any of these items to be set against each Kimosetter platemaking system purchased. And you won't just save money. A fraction of the size of the old analogue units, the Kimosetter is comparable to a mid-size inkjet printer, so you can reclaim valuable work space too.

The Kimosetter 410 can replace conventional cameras and platemakers for short-run one and two-colour work. Press-ready plates can be produced from digital files in one easy-to-use system making it an affordable solution for entry level desktop CTP. Michael Malone, managing director of Grafika Links says, "A lot of printers need to upgrade and move into the digital environment at an affordable level, and this is a cost effective way of doing it.”

The system accommodates popular plate sizes up to 410x510mm, with the ability to print full-bleed A3 with crop and register marks. The platesetter is toner-free, which means no mess, no fingerprints and no backgrounding or toner spatter that could pick up ink on-press. Rated for up to 5,000 impressions, Polyester base Kimoplate e2 polyester plates provide dimensional stability and ensure accurate image size and good register for spot colour work.

The matte, hydrophilic coating has better water-holding capacity and is scratch and fingerprint resistant. Plates require no plate etch or post-imaging fusing and are delivered press-ready straight from the Platesetter. This environmentally friendly approach enables operators to work in closed studio conditions. Kimosetter 410 plates are compatible with most inks, including rubber base, soy base, oil base and UV.

The Kimosetter can be used as stand-alone system or can be added to a network. A queue lets you re-prioritise jobs and retain them for later re-imaging. And, as production requirements grow, this system upgrades easily to a Digital PlateMaster (DPM) or a Vector TX52.
