Printers making their way to the expo will have plenty to see from the 100 or so exhibitors at the co-located events.

Among the attractions are the new Roland DG fourth generation printer cutter the SolJet Pro4 XR640, which is just launched at the show, and for which the company says it already as around 30 orders. It is believed to be the only wide format printer that comes with a five-year warranty.

New to the Visual Impact show are the swissQprint range of printers that are being brought into the country by Positive Camtec. Adriano Gut, sales and marketing manager at positive camtec says, “the precision, versatility and speed of these Swiss built printers sets them apart.” Also new and fresh from its launch at drupa is the 93sqm an hour EFI QS2, located on the DES stand. The Seiko 7800 on the Anitech stand has a new bulk inking system that the company says will reduce ink costs by 30-40 per cent.  Reduced ink costs are also part of the attraction of the new Mimaki JV400-160LX which comes with latex ink and prints a white.

One of the more interesting developments is on the Oce stand, which has a new software package that enables wide format printers to create boxes on their Arizona and ProCut. Steve Badger, wide format solutions manager at Oce says The step by step interactive software will open up a huge new market for printers, and it costs less than $10,000. Epson is showing its new range of SureColor printers, which business sunit manager Craig Heckenberg says are Epson’s ‘most advanced printer to date, and at the lowest total cost of ownership.’
