VRC wows customers with quality of chem-free Agfa Avalon CTP

Hodge said he opted to buy the Avalon through distributor G2 Solutions thanks to the system’s high quality, ease of use and environmental credentials.

The Brisbane-based printer switched two months ago after its old Highwater CTP system started failing, and the changeover has been a big success, said Hodge.

The chemistry-free Avalon machine will process Agfa Azura chemistry-free plates.

Hodge said that customers had noticed the improvement in sharpness and clarity.

G2 Solutions also provided a new Apple iMac with an Adobe software suite for the front end, a Xitron Navigator RIP Manager and a workflow system.

G2 Solutions director Bernie Hockings said: “The system provides inbuilt trapping as well as writing CIP3 data to cards for the Manroland press, and outputs proofs to an Epson 7880 plotter.

“The move to the Azura plates was in keeping with VRC’s plan to improve their environmental awareness. This – combined with the ease and low maintenance that they had seen demonstrated at a number of other sites that G2 has installed running similar systems – meant it was an obvious choice,” added Hockings.
