WA signage company certified with green stamp

Sign-a-Rama recently upgraded its solvent ink-based wide format printer to an HP latex-based machine, which the company claims is much more eco friendly. According to HP its new latex printer has been designed with the environment in mind, with no solvents and all ink and stock is fully recyclable.

The company has undergone a storm water drainage assessment, installed more efficient lighting throughout its facility and is now also recycling 100 per cent of its paper and cardboard waste, which amounts to as much as 4.5 cubic metres a week.

Richard Angerson, director at Sign-a-Rama told Australian Printer, “A lot of our customers are environmentally sensitive so its great for them to be able to say they are using an environmentally certified supplier.”

He continues, “If we can do our little bit we might be able to encourage others to do the same, which would be great for the environment. On the business side it could also give us some leverage with potential customers who may choose us over the competition that is not certified.”

The company also outlines that it will endeavour to comply with applicable environmental legislation standards, industry codes of practice and procedures that it subscribes to. The company outlines it will strive for continuous improvement through the development of specific programmes to address the environmental impacts and costs of its activities, products and services, and will achieve this by:

  • Developing and maintaining an environmental management scheme that will enable it to set and review environmental objectives and targets, and document and monitor its overall environmental performance
  • Management of environmental systems will be adequately resourced, and staff hired and trained, where necessary, to ensure policy compliance
  • Committing to the prevention of pollution, focusing on minimising release of contaminants into the environment and efficient use of raw materials to conserve natural resources
  • Communicating its commitment to environmental quality and to our company’s environmental performance to our employees, vendors, customers, and external stakeholders.
