Walcar’s five-colour Oki a hit

Walcar Graphics has held its yearly Mini Expo in Sydney to showcase its Oki range, with a new five-colour printer attracting attention from attendees. Wal Sadlo, owner of Walcar, says the Oki C941 five-colour printer with the option to print a white and/or a gloss was greeted with approval by printers and graphic arts professionals, especially for its ability to print on a range of paper and synthetic substrates.

Some larger and more expensive production machines, he says, can print CMYK and gloss but can’t print both gloss and or white. One designer commented, “We have been waiting for such a printer. It opens up new design capabilities.” Sadlo adds that it is likely Oki will include additional fifth colours in the future. Side by side with the C941 was a new Oki envelope printer; available as a bundle with the five-colour Oki or as a standalone four-colour envelope printer. While attendance was below expectations, Sadlo says, “We are more than happy with the solid enquiries and requests for quotations. “Those who attended were seriously interested in the new Oki and we expect to finalise several orders within the next week or two for both the C941 five-colour printer and the new Oki envelope printing system.”
