During drupa at all 4, stand B55, Durst will be demonstrating the new white ink feature on the Rho 160W Plus direct to media inkjet printer. According to the manufacturers, the Rho 160W Plus is the world’s first production inkjet printer to offer a white ink capability.
Durst announced the Rho 160W Plus large format UV inkjet printer/press at the recent PMA trade show in the United States. This important new capability presents new options for commercial labs, sign shops and screen printers when selecting media types for various jobs.
Previously available on some smaller inkjet printers, white ink can now be printed with the new Rho 160W Plus which is based on the approved technology of the existing Durst Rho printers on the market.
Users can now create a white background on coloured (non-white) and clear media. Several different user selectable print options for white ink, allow to underprint white areas, fill white areas or details, print white as spot colour, produce cleaner backgrounds, create more contrast in images, and make colours “pop”.
No longer are media selections for certain applications limited by the fact that a white overlay or white background was unavailable or not technically possible. Not only does white ink allow a shop to participate in more jobs; it brings more value and flexibility to its printing capabilities.
The Rho 160Plus, an enhanced version of the Durst Rho 160, features increased productivity through additional user selectable printing levels, higher linear print speed and full support for both RGB and CMYK workflows, to give customers complete flexibility with their colour management implementation. With the new proprietary print technology, the Durst Rho 160 Plus features a new quality standard and increased printing productivity up to 850 sq ft per hour.
In keeping with Durst’s product design philosophy, Durst Rho 160 and Rho 160 Plus owners can take advantage of new capabilities -including white ink -through regular hardware and software upgrades, thereby keeping their investment current with the latest Durst design and technology.
Also on the Durst stand will be the world’s first showing of the Rho 205-16 flatbed inkjet printer, the latest edition of the company’s modular Rho 205 concept.
