The A3 printer is the UJF-3042, and can accommodate objects up to 5cm thick. Aimed straight at the promotional products market, it will also appeal to companies printing on items such as mobile phones, laptops, membrane switches, gift boxes and the like.
It prints white, plus the four process colours, and a coating. It has a newly developed print head, and prints to a resolution of 1440x1200dpi. It uses UV LED technology. Mimaki says energy costs are low, and it says the price point will appeal.
Mimaki also unveiled the UJF high speed UV flatbed, which prints on stock sizes up to 700 x 600mm, with a thickness of 150mm. It has automatic optical object recognition for centring of prints on small objects.
