Amcor to sell $35m packaging plant

Amcor says its strategy in flexible packaging is to focus on the higher value-add segments of the food and healthcare markets. Ken MacKenzie, CEO of Amcor says, “This plant was not aligned to the remainder of the flexibles business as it was the only Amcor site that produced industrial stretch wrap film.”

The facility, Amcor Flexibles Kewdale, produces cast and blown polyethylene products including stretch and shrink film which it markets throughout Australia and New Zealand. The company also distributes a full range of pallet wrapping machines and associated equipment.

John Cerini, Integrated Packaging CEO says the acquisition will reinforce the company’s growth strategy in the materials handling and crop packaging markets.

Cerini says, “Integrated Packaging Group’s new position will enable further development of innovative, cost effective and environmentally beneficial solutions for our customers in Australia, New Zealand and other global markets including Asia and North America.”

He concludes, “It gives us access to cast film technology, new sales market segments and provides an excellent platform for future expansion of the business.”

Integrated Packaging Group expects to complete the transaction by the end of July this year.
