Around 70 members of the association convened at a sunny Eagle Farm Race Course on 31 August, including staff from Platypus Graphics and Screen Offset.
Printers were joined by representatives from numerous vendors including Fuji Xerox Australia, Heidelberg, and G2 Solutions.
LIA national vice president Bernie Hockings said the key to the day’s success was the relaxed atmosphere of the event.
“In the midst of all the rubbish that is going on in the print world, it was great to have an afternoon to kick back, and we are all very happy about the way the day panned out,” he said.
“LIA is not politically motivated, so you’ve got competing suppliers all there in a relaxed environment, and for printers there is a lot of good opportunities to meet on a neutral territory.”
Hockings added that LIA’s marquee was so close to the track disgruntled betters could grab the jockeys who let them down.
“There were a few small winners, but nobody went home in a limo,” said Hockings.
