Arkitex to tighten newspaper workflow

Agfa Graphics is bringing its Arkitex Production Workflow for newspapers to next week’s World Publishing Expo. It says Arkitex Production offers integrated functions for more effective management and automation efficiencies in newspaper making, from the publisher to the printer. Jeff Cord, Arkitex marketing manager with Agfa, says, “Arkitex Production gives publishers the ability to operate with greater economy and efficiency and easily meet ever-tightening deadlines.

“Printed newspapers are still viewed as reliable sources of news, information and advertising for many consumers around the world. Arkitex Production, the ultimate in workflow software for newspapers, helps publishers be competitive and better respond to readers’ needs in a print and digital world.” The programme provides a single, integrated browser-based user interface that keeps all departments informed about all operations. Based entirely on HTML5, the interface can be accessed from laptops, tablets and smartphones, even touchscreens in pressroom environments. Arkitex Production automatically processes pages and plates based on deadlines. It can extend tracking through the punch or bender system right to the press. The solution is scalable, with smaller operations able to choose basic modules and larger groups opting for advanced modules supporting more complex workflows. Agfa says it can work with multiple editorial sites, allowing more than one publisher to monitor and approve workflow stages. The soft proofing and approval system lets users preview pages and formes and track approvals. Quality enhancement features are available, including IntelliTune for image enhancement, Veripress for soft-proofing at the press console, OptiInk for ink saving, Sublima screening for clear sharp images, and automated ink-key presetting. The company says the system’s easy-to-use interfaces requires only minimal training for operators. The programme will be on show at the World Publishing Expo on October 13 to 15 in Amsterdam.
