ASAP secures exclusive agency for fast-growing UK finishing brand Watkiss

ASAP has secured an exclusive contract to sell and service Watkiss’ range of collators, booklet-makers and finishers. Watkiss was previously handled non-exclusively by a number of suppliers in each state.

ASAP’s Matthew Benn told ProPrint that his company picked up the agency after no other suppliers expressed an interest in handling the range on a nationwide basis.

Benn is charged with growing Watkiss’ market share across Australia, which he said was “not that huge outside of Sydney.”

“We’re sharing with our existing client base the benefits of using Watkiss, and there are major benefits,” he said.

“All the machines are modular, so they can grow with your business. You can start off with just a collator, and then add a booklet-maker and trimmer, and then if you want a bigger booklet-maker you can upgrade that. They all fit with each other.”

Watkiss has had a stellar few months. Last week, leading UK newspaper The Sunday Times named the manufacturer on a list of privately owned businesses with the fastest growing global sales.

The manufacturer also picked up a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in April for its international success.

ASAP’s partnership with Watkiss has also led to it picking up the distribution contract for guillotine and booklet-making equipment manufacturer Rigo. Watkiss handles the Rigo range in the UK market.

The deals continue a period of expansion for ASAP, which picked up the national service and support contract for James Burn International in April.
