ATO hands $800,000 Tax File job to Camerons Group

The Tax Office said the 2011 contract was awarded on 29 March and will run until the end of June.

The department also revealed the tribulations it had with a similar job last year, which had been handed to Moore Australasia to be produced at Paragon Printing’s Albury-Wodonga factory.

“Moore were contracted to provide two forms; both required indented stock from overseas,” said an ATO spokesperson. However, Paragon Printing called in administrators Hall Chadwick on 5 March 2010.

“We held detailed discussions with the administrator. Following that, and due to the critical nature of the supply, we had to withdraw both jobs from Paragon Printing in Albury,” said the spokesperson.

“These jobs were then reallocated to two other suppliers on our panel.”

The ATO said Camerons was one of two companies on its tender panel that had the capabilities to run this year’s job.

“TFN Declarations are one of the most time-critical products given the legislative requirement to provide a TFN within 28 days of employment,” said the ATO.

“The production technique used is such that only a small number of suppliers can do it, and really only two in terms of suppliers we are contracted to.”

Camerons Group general manager Troy Cameron declined to comment when contacted by ProPrint.

Note: Paragon Printing is in no way associated with Paragon Printers, a 45-year-old printer based in Canberra.
