Australian digital printers take out four PIXI awards

Integrated Mailing Services, Snap Printing – Westpac Digital Print Centre, Docucopy and Digital Print Australia were the victors at this year’s PIXI awards. The awards recognised printing innovations in five categories, including collateral, books and manuals, direct marketing, trans/promo and new business applications.

Integrated Mailing Services (IMS), based in Tullamarine, Victoria, won the first prize in the direct marketing category for their direct mail piece. The mailers were used as part of a campaign to increase membership for the Collingwood Football Club and were printed on a Xerox iGen3 production colour press.

Snap Printing – Westpac Digital Print Centre, based in Sydney, took the top award in the environmental category for the Westpac Brand Palette Booklet. The Booklet details the bank’s brand principles for agency partners, and was printed on a Xerox iGen3 and DocuColor 8000 using 100 per cent recycled Australian-made paper.

Two second place prizes were awarded in the books and manuals and new business applications categories. In the books and manuals category, Docucopy of Victoria used a Xerox DocuColor 8000 to produce Bank Apartments booklets for extension marketing to help the company increase apartment sales.

Digital Print Australia, based in Adelaide, won the second place prize in the new business application category. Using the iGen4, it printed a promotional gift solution for The Lane Vineyard. The branded wine carrier can also be easily customised for different lines of wines.

Brett Maishman, national commercial print business manager at Fuji Xerox says, “Once again, our Australian customers have demonstrated that they are the best of the best in the digital print industry and can create cutting edge applications.”

Australian winners will formally receive their awards at the Fuji Xerox Innovate 09 conference to be held on October 7 on the Gold Coast as well as the Asia Pacific Premier Partner conference which is taking place in November in Korea. The winning Australian submissions will also be showcased at Print 09 in Chicago.
