Award entries closed for NSW and Qld

Warwick Roden, chairman of judges for the WorkCover NSW Print Excellence Awards, says ink and water problems are a key control measure that printers should manage carefully.

He says, “The lithographer‘s skill in the daily juggling act they perform, that of balancing ink and water, is on public display at the print awards, so you have to get it right. The judges keep a sharp eye open for a bit of catch-up, scum or tinting, filling in of fine reverse type, or water and roller marks appearing throughout the job.”

Roden continues, “Poor control of ink and water also leads to uneven colour and registration through the job. The judges always look for consistency of colour in headings, printed index tabs, coloured borders or decorative rules that run from page to page.”

The South Australian/ Northern Territory PICA will be held on October 23, WorkCover NSW Print Excellence Awards November 13, the ACT PAGE Awards on November 20 and the Queensland PICA on November 28.

Printing Industries has also announced that Channel Ten’s Good News Week host, Paul McDermott is set to front the WorkCover NSW Print Excellence Awards.

An accomplished comedian, artist, writer and musician, McDermott will be the master of ceremonies at the Awards presentation dinner to be held in Doltone House, Pyrmont.

The Association outlines that McDermott is certain to bring an entertaining flavour to the awards presentation night which will also feature a stunning high energy guest act yet to be announced.
