Barnet wins Gamaa’s $15k overseas grant

Barnet was chosen from a field of ‘outstanding applications’, and says he will use the annual Grant to travel to the US to undertake research into value added services in direct and new media.

Ian Martin, president of GAMAA, congratulated Barnet on behalf of the GAMAA members. “We would like to extend our congratulations and wish Peter all the best in fulfilling his aims for the GAMAA Grant. We  look forward to the outcomes Peter will present We were pleased with the high calibre of applications we received in the inaugural round for the GAMAA Grant.”.

On being awarded the Grant, Barnet said, “I am thrilled about the opportunity this Grant delivers. I have been talking for a long time about printers becoming more integrated providers to their customers – marketing service providers. Over the last two years we have evolved our services and won new business based on adding services to our portfolio through understanding our customers’ changing needs. I intend to use the GAMAA Grant to find out what else I can add and to see how others are doing it”.

He continued. “There are a host of innovative companies out there and I am extremely excited that I have the opportunity to travel to the US and bring back new ideas and concepts that will not only assist my company, but also add to the body of knowledge for our industry”.

Opening Doors and Expanding Boundaries are the key opportunities presented with the GAMAA Industry Overseas Internship Grant. This annual Grant allows the successful applicant to undertake an internship with companies of their choosing anywhere in the world.

Internships can be undertaken in marketing, new media, print, graphic design and other nominated disciplines related to the print media field. The outcome of the Grant will be a research paper documenting the recipient’s experience and how these learnings can be applied to the Australian market.
