BJ Ball installs Twin-Knife sheeter in Sydney

Consumer demand for local converting has seen BJ Ball install a new twin knife sheeter in Sydney, which is capable of converting its full range of packaging grades such as Tambrite, Formakote, Hi Q, Incada Silk and IP Everest. The fourth addition to the company’s collection of the convertors, with two in Melbourne and one in Perth, will be housed at BJ Ball’s Prospect facility and is set for commissioning early March. Speaking with Australia Printer, Andrew Lees, national converting manager, says the new machine is consistent with BJ Ball’s commitment to improve on customer demands at a local level.

Lees says, “We are able to expand our national service offering in line with the growing customer packaging board requirements. “We have been strong in the packaging sector but if you are going to be serious about it you have to have your own machines.” According to Lees the Sydney machine will shorten delivery time and encourage customers to broaden the range of stocks they are using. Brad Paddington, sales executive packaging, has welcomed the new machine saying it will boost the company’s client confidence. Paddington says, “This will provide many of our national and Sydney based convertors and manufacturers with the confidence they require, knowing a local converting facility is now part of the BJ Ball market offering. The machine due to be launched in March will be operational 24 hours a day, five days a week.
