Boost for magazine sector with launches from ACP, IPMG and News Mags

ACP Custom Media has joined forces with Telstra to launch Smarter Business Ideas, aimed at SME business owners.

Telstra and ACP claimed the magazine’s 525,000 print run means it will reach more Australian businesses than all other business magazines combined. They said it would have the sixth highest distribution in the country and be the most widely distributed quarterly.

According to ACP, the printer has not been decided yet. The publisher’s magazine work is believed to be currently shared between PMP, Webstar and IPMG.

IPMG’s online publishing division, Independent Digital Media, has released the first issue of Younger You magazine, an anti-ageing brand that started life as a website.

The 132pp launch issue will hit newsstands today with a print run of 30,000. It was produced at Hannanprint and joins two other websites-turned-magazines from IDM, wedding brand The Knot and beauty brand Primped.

IDM general manager James Hannan told ProPrint that IDM was “in a unique position to leverage IPMG’s print businesses”.

IPMG chief executive Stephen Anstice confirmed that the three titles marked the first time IPMG had acted as both publisher and printer since it sold magazine arm FCP, which became part of News Magazines in 2006.

News Mags has also announced a new magazine launch. It will release a standalone, paid-for version of The Sunday Telegraph‘s Body + Soul lift-out.

The biannual magazine will hit newsagents in November, with an initial print run of 75,000.
