Retiring owner of North Queensland’s Lotsa Print, Peter Martin says several potential buyers have expressed interest in the 21-year-old business which went on the market only three weeks ago.
Lotsa has two production sites in Far North Queensland, one in Cairns and one in Port Douglas. The Port Douglas site services digital and offset, while the Cairns site focuses on digital.
Speaking to Australian Printer, Martin says he has received inquiries from five interested parties, three of which are family-owned businesses, and two large companies.
“My ideal buyer would be another family-owned operation that wants to expand in the area and could bring some great ideas to further grow the market,” he says.
“It has been good to get solid interest, and we are now going through the process of supplying our data to the potential buyers.”
Martin is aiming to sell the business for $1.85m which includes a workforce of 33, and a gamut of pre-press, offset, digital, wide format, and finishing equipment.
Martin says he is confident he will receive the asking price, “Everyone is seeing the price as more than fair, and I think it is bloody cheap.”
The veteran moved from Sydney to Far North Queensland 25 years ago, and says tourism in the area is currently booming after a period of stagnation post GFC.
Martin adds, “People are starting to realise Far North Queensland is a safe destination, there is great potential for the region and the business is well placed in the market.”
Lotsa also boasts the title of first printer in the world to receive a 100 per cent audit score for ISO 12647 colour Quality Management System, which the business was awarded in May.
Martin expects to sell Lotsa within the next six to eight weeks. Interested parties can contact Richard Rasmussen of Ascent Partners on 0402 021 101.
