Cadillac sets environmental benchmark

The company was the second company in Australia to complete the Printing Industries’ SGP Level 1 certification programme in February 2010 and set its sights on quickly completing all SGP certification levels.

By July 2010, having completing its Level 2 training, Cadillac Printing successfully passed its audit and immediately began working on Level 3 certification, which was achieved in May 2011.

Cadillac also opted to go a step further by applying for ISO14001 audit certification on the back of its ISO based SGP Level 3, achieving this shortly afterwards.

Trevor Stone, plant manager at Cadillac who managed the process says it was made easier by having the full support of staff.

He says, “From the day Cadillac commenced the SGP program all the staff have been eagerly involved. The realisation of making a difference to the environment was enough of a goal to drive the challenge along.

“Now, less than 12 months since achieving SGP Level 2, we can proudly say we are SGP Level 3 and ISO 14001 certified, which is fantastic achievement by everyone involved.”

Stone continues, “The benefits of the investment have already been substantial, from cost reduction through to risk identifications to protect the business and the environment.”

Also commenting, Bill Healey, CEO of Printing Industries says Cadillac Printing’s commitment to the Association’s SGP programme was an outstanding example of what could be achieved.

He says, “Cadillac’s management and staff are to be congratulated on this achievement which has demonstrated the important role of SGP in delivering tangible benefits to the company’s bottom line as well meeting the environmental expectations of customers.

“Cadillac now have a system in place that will allow them to manage environmental performance at the highest of levels while at the same time have created a competitive advantage for their business.
