Canon imagePRESS C1 arrives in Australia

Since its debut at Ipex in Birmingham earlier this year, Brown has been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the first C1 for his market. His enthusiastic demonstration last week of Canon’s new digital technology – targeted at complimenting offset print runs – indicates that Brown and his team believe they have a winner on their hands.

The imagePRESS C1 uses next generation technology to ensure outstanding image quality and stability for digital colour printing that is a very close match to offset quality. The C1 outputs full colour prints at the rate of 14 pages per minute in 1200 dpi resolution with 256 gradations.

Brown believes that the C1’s outstanding image quality makes it suitable for both printing and proofing applications on a wide variety of media sizes up to 330 x 482mm including both coated and uncoated stocks.

The C1 is easily operated from a large, easy-to-read, touch-screen LCD control panel manages automatic calibration and control systems to provide outstanding colour stability and consistency.

Canon has devised and built the C1 from the ground up, deploying several new technologies patented by Canon to give it a competitive edge in the demanding print-for-pay and proofing markets. These include Canon’s new V-Toner, E-Drum and T-Developer for outstanding image quality and stability and Canon’s revolutionary oil-less fusing system provides the look and feel of an offset print.

The imagePRESS C1 also comes with advanced finishing options including saddle-stitching, centre-fold, punching, stapling and stacking.

The C1 is shortly to be followed by its bigger brother, the imagePRESS C7000VP which boasts a production speed of 70 prints per minute on 300gsm stock from A5 to 330 x 487mm, a 10,000 sheet capacity, duplexing accuracy and outstanding image quality.
