The move has seen OPUS create a specialist Government Printing division to add to its existing Short-Medium Run Book (Ligare) and Out-of-Home Printing (Cactus Imaging and Omnigraphics New Zealand) divisions. In addition to its commercial and other government printing, Can Print is responsible for the printing of the federal budget.
The shift will see OPUS’ headcount increased by 50%, whilst CanPrint general manager David Daniel will retain his position.
“We see significant opportunities in partnering with OPUS Print Group, particularly Ligare – one of Australia’s best regarded book printers,” said Daniel. “Ligare’s specialist offering is very complementary to ours and I look forward to the many operational benefits that will be achieved, such as greater cross selling and resource allocation.”
OPUS chief executive Cliff Brigstocke (pictured) also touted the access OPUS’ existing divisions will have to CanPrint’s commercial printing operations.
“All print divisions can now combine their core capabilities to develop an attractive single source print solution to secure more group wide accounts,” he said.
“Importantly, with today’s announcement, we now have the scale and market position to be considered a major force in the Australasian printing industry.”
Based in Fyshwick, CanPrint was recently certified under the Australian Forestry Certification Scheme (AFCS).
