CGS says the new ORIS Global Proofing includes numerous ease-of use enhancements to the existing ORIS line, as well as the collaborative tools in its new ORIS Color Markup package. In addition the company is unveiling a new soft proofing technology, based on its ORIS Works and PDF Tuner technologies.
One aspect of the remote proofing approach is the use of software Wizards in ORIS Color Tuner 5.1, which CGS says will make the program’s Automatic Calibration even easier. At drupa, the company demonstrating the system’s ability to easily bring like model printers into alignment with a common standard. ORIS Certified Proof 1.1, on both Mac and Windows, is also being unveiled, providing enhanced per-proof quality control at the print buyer site.
In addition to its proofing software, CGS has launched several new proofing substrates at the show, as well as significant enhancements to its ORIS Works hotfolder-based workflow environment and its high-end editing package, ORIS PDF Tuner.
A key element of the CGS proofing suite is a detailed Color Wizard, which provides a step-by-step approach to proofer installation, linearisation and device calibration. The Wizard simplifies Color Tuner’s automatic calibration function. Using the Wizard, multiple users in different locations can align their respective printers to a single standard.
CGS claims ORIS Color Tuner 5.1 will faithfully render Pantone Hexachrome and other non-traditional process colour spaces, using the full colour gamut of inkjet devices from Epson, Canon and other manufacturers. In addition, the new version will feature direct connectivity with the X-Rite DTP41 and support for the latest model inkjet printers, including the Canon W6200 and the Epson Stylus Pro 4000.
