Cheque-Mates has invested in a Fuji Xerox Nuvera 144 press to increase its firepower for faster turnarounds and to boost the bottom line. Cheque-Mates, which forms part of the Lamson Paragon group of companies, is a trade-only printer with services in envelope supply and print, inkjet and laser printing, digital, fulfilment and finishing as well as several other services. Speaking with Australian Printer, Rodney Frost, group general manager for Lamson Paragon, says it was important to invest in a machine that was going to help the business achieve more.
Frost says, “The Xerox Nuvera will be replacing its predecessor and will give us more firepower to get those jobs out of the door fast.” Fuji Xerox says the Nuvera 144 has more than 300 patents and advanced magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) technologies, delivering image quality that is quickly recognisable by reader or sorters. “This system offers the flexibility, productivity and reliability for all the jobs it gets,” Fuji Xerox says. Frost says the majority of MICR in the market at the moment will have end of life in two years and with the decline many will face a challenge to get business with MICR. “We think this new machine will have five to eight years life and it will also allow us to do monochrome so we can pick up some laser work as well,” he says. “But the main reason we are investing in this press is that many businesses will be only have a small portion of their work that may need MICR and so we will be able to offer them this solution. “It is all about offering clients with something extra and extending a helping hand.” He says Cheque-Mates has been performing well in the last two years but the price increases by Australia Post for bulk mail has affected the business. “But the times have changed where marketers would send thousands of the same mail to a customer, which was a lot of waste. “Now it’s more about tailored direct mail that targets certain markets and customers. So the business is going well in that regard.”
