In a statement, which did not outline why HP had made the sudden shift, Shane Lucas, director of HP graphic arts South Pacific confirmed that now CPI was to be the national reseller partner for the Scitex range of printers.
Lucas says, “At present HP, Anitech (the current HP Scitex reseller partner) and CPI are working together to ensure a smooth transition for customers. Anitech will continue to represent the HP Designjet range of printers and is a valued channel partner of HP in this important and growing market segment.”
Meanwhile CPI, whose appointment as the HP reseller is its first move into the wide format market, says it is eager to get involved in wide format as it sees strong growth potential.
The company also outlines that it is in the process of employing staff for a stand-alone wide format portfolio, which is to be headed up by newly appointed product manager, Patrick Turner.
Gerard Wintle, general manager for graphics at CPI says it is expected that CPI will be able to sell and supply the wide format equipment at higher levels that it has been previously.
He says, “If you look at CPI, we already sell the wide format media through the paper business so we already have relationships with a lot of signage companies.”
Wintle continues, “We already have a solid service division and logistics for transport in place so it’s just a matter of building on to that with the new product range.”
