DES and Canon kick off imaging road show

According to Russell Cavenagh, national sales director at DES, the two-day workshop and symposium attracted a crowd of over 80 enthusiastic digital imaging professionals, who were able to learn about the emerging technologies, imaging possibilities and business opportunities to be found in the rapidly expanding market of digital fine art.

This event, the first of three Fine Art digital roadshows under the banner of Input, Output, Display, offered attendees a hands-on workshop experience, with digital experts from DES, Canon and Image Products available during the event to answer questions and demonstrate new ideas and methods for emerging digital markets.

Among the latest equipment being demonstrated were solutions for high quality digital image capture, colour correction and ICC profiles, printing fine art images on paper, canvas and other specialised substrates, as well as finishing options such as laminating, framing and mounting, and much more.

Cavenagh says, “We were very pleased with the attendance at this roadshow, and the responses we received from over 80 visitors showed us that this kind of event is very welcome. It gave professionals the chance to see where new technology is taking digital imaging, and the kinds of new business opportunities that are opening up for them.

“I think visitors really appreciated the fact that they could get closely involved with the displays and be part of the demonstrations, asking questions and learning from industry experts. People I spoke to commented that it was an effective and absorbing way of finding the information they were seeking, making the time spent at the roadshow a valuable experience.”

The Fine Art digital roadshows move to Sydney, on February 27 and 28, at Sun Studios in Alexandria, and Melbourne on March 5 and 6, at Blue Tree Studios in Port Melbourne. Both events are already heavily booked, but some spaces are still available for imaging professionals to attend.
