Donnison leaves PIAA for post in tourism

PIAA national director, Philip Andersen, is once again assuming a caretaker role at the industry’s peak body as acting CEO.

In announcing the changes, PIAA national president, Peter Lane, says Donnison’s resignation came as a surprise. “We respect his decision in the matter and assure him of our best wishes for his future,” says Lane.

“Gary is a highly skilled individual. Not too many people would dispute his abilities, particularly his ability to engage people at all levels.

“He is an articulate, persuasive speaker, logical reasoner and is politic in his approach.”

Lane further paid tribute to Donnison’s negotiating skills, stating that largely through his efforts, the Federal Government reversed its budget decision to terminate the EPICS industry assistance scheme, returning $22m back to the print industry.

“We thank Gary for his vision and efforts during the past four years and wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” Lane says.

Prior to joining PIAA, Donnison was assistant director-general of the NSW Department of Industrial Relations.

He has an Honours Degree in Philosophy and Economics and a post-graduate Diploma of Industrial Law.
