Epson celebrates the sale of six SurePress L-5034 units at China Print; showcases two new machines

Epson China had a very successful China Print tradeshow in Beijing, celebrating the sale of six SurePress L-5034 units in the country and launching two new machines at the event.

The SurePress L-5034 is a new commercial inkjet label press with LED UV curing ink, enabling high-speed printing that’s ideal for short- to mid-run jobs, producing labels with outstanding scratch and weather resistance.

The newly developed PrecisionCore linehead, centre drum system, and digital varnish deliver high-quality images. The space-saving, compact design integrates all the functions required for label production, such as Corona Treater, White ink, digital varnish, and an additional UV curing unit.

The new pinning technology in the machine controls the range of ink scattering and realises ultra-sharp dots and incredibly thin lines. It also has a wide colour gamut and tonal gradation. In White ink printing, Surface White Print and Reverse-White Print are available to extend the range of expression on clear and metalised films.

With the new digital varnish ink, a gloss or matte finish can be selected for the overall label, and appealing partial accents can be added using glossy or matte spot varnish.

Epson also took the wraps off its SureColor P9380 and SureColor P7380 at the event.

The SureColor P9380 (SureColor P9360 locally)

The 10-color pigment ink machines add to Epson’s high-end imaging series and include Nozzle Verification Technology (NVT), micro-spraying technology, the addition of violet as a spot colour, and the latest generation 2.64-inch Epson PrecisionCore MicroTFP print heads capable of ejecting a minimum ink droplet size of up to 3.5 microliters.

Epson China LFP product manager Xin Longhao said, “These machines are focused on the photo category as Epson has a huge market share in this space. The SureColor P9380 is a 44-inch machine, while the SureColor P7380 is a 24-inch machine, but their specs are totally the same.

“The colour gamut of these machines is 97 per cent as a result of the 10-color pigment ink and addition of violet as a spot colour. Their speed is almost double of previous models, because of new and improved printheads. They are very stable machines that produce very vivid images.”

The SureColor P9380 and SureColor P7380 are referenced locally as the SureColor P9360 and SureColor P7360 respectively.

The Epson CW-6530A was also on display, integrated with post-processing die-cutter, demonstrating a total solution. The Epson CW-6530A, which is the company’s first 8-inch wide format colour label printer, uses a PrecisionCore print head with resolution up to 1,200dpi by 1,200dpi and four-colour pigment ink.

Epson China label press technical engineer Haixiang Liu

Epson China label press technical engineer Haixiang Liu said, “The machine uses Epson pigment ink, which means labels dry quickly, are waterproof, light-resistant, and scratch-resistant.

“The printer is also capable of achieving a wide range of application scenarios and industry needs within the wide-format label output space, especially for industries such as manufacturing, retail, chemicals, and electricity.

“Integrated with the post-processing die-cutter, we show customers a full solution where a machine directly prints the labels, laminates it, and die-cuts, all in one production line.”

The CW-6530A is known locally as the ColorWorks C6510A.
