Epson releases six inkjet label and wide format printers

Craig Heckenberg, national marketing manager for graphics at Epson Australia says, “For Epson this drupa represents the company moving to the next stage in its commercial print business, with a host of solutions aimed at taking printers further.”

In label converting, the seven-colour SurePress Digital Label Press L-4033AW offers white ink and can print onto clear and metallic materials. Heckenberg says, “The digital SurePress makes high quality short run label printing easier and more efficient, even on clear and metallic substrates.”

SurePress is going into an expanding market, short run labels, but one that has established players, however Heckenberg says, “The price point of SurePress is significantly lower.”

Epson also showed its prototype SurePress X, which uses LED-UV. Heckenberg says, “This means it can print onto standard stocks of paper and film. The demonstration here is printing on 250mm wide PET.”

On the wide format front, Epson’s SureColour range had five new additions. For signage and POS, making its international debut was the new four/five-colour SureColor SC-S50600, a 64″ roll-fed wide-format printer offering speeds up to 50sqm/hr thanks to twin Thin Film Piezo print-heads and dual ink-sets.

Also introduced, the SureColor SC-S70600 eight/ten-colour printer, with white and metallic ink offered in the latter version. It is a 64″ roll-fed printer which can support white and metallic inks at the same time, and features Epson’s’s UltraChrome GSX Ink and the new Thin Film Piezo print-head to provide resolutions up to 1,440 x 1,440dpi. It offers speeds up to 27.3sq m/hr in eight-colour high-speed mode, and 4.1sq m/hr with metallic ink.

The four-colour SureColor SC-T7000 44″, SC-T5000 36″, and SC-T3000 24″ printers were also launched at drupa for the CAD and GIS market, and POS output. Heckenberg says, “They provide great flexibility.”
